What is burstable RAM?
Most VPS web hosting providers offer both guaranteed and burstable RAM/memory. Guaranteed RAM is the memory your server can use at all times. Burstable, however, refers to a short-term spike in memory usage. Sometimes the memory usage may exceed the allotted amount of guaranteed RAM. That is why VPS owners need Burstable RAM. It is available for the server during times of high usage or traffic. This RAM is not in use by any VPS on a server and can be allocated to any VPS that may need it as long as it is available.
Dedicated Server
A Dedicated Server is a type of Internet hosting in which the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including choice of operating system, hardware, etc. Server administration can usually be provided by the hosting company as an add-on service. In some cases a dedicated server can offer less overhead and a larger return on investment. Dedicated servers are most often housed in data centers.
Managed VPS
A Managed Virtual Private Server is a service that includes the hardware, software, and ongoing upkeep of VPS by the Hosting provider. It usually means that the Hosting company handles any issue or configuration request the client may have. It may include: server configurations, software installation, Hardware failures, Firewall setup etc. It may vary from company to company.
Plesk
The Parallels Plesk Panel is an all-in-one Server Administrator control panel. It allows server administrators to set up and manage new websites, reseller accounts, e-mail accounts, and DNS entries via a web-based graphic interface. Plesk supports a number of operating systems such as Debian, Fedora, FreeBSD, Red Hat Linux, SUSE, Ubuntu and for Windows it supports Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008.
What is cPanel?
cPanel is an easy-to-use, UNIX based web hosting control panel. It has an intuitive graphical interface that makes it easy to handle the otherwise very confusing procedures of web hosting and server administration. All this is done through your web browser.
Virtual private server (VPS)
Virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine run by an individual customer of the service. The term is used to emphasize that the virtual machine, although running in software on the same physical computer as other customers’ virtual machines, is functionally equivalent to a separate physical computer, is dedicated to the individual customer’s needs, has the privacy of a separate physical computer, and can be configured to run as a server computer (i.e. to run server software).
Virtuozzo
Virtuozzo Power Panel also known as VZPP is used to manage a VPS efficiently. A user can Restart, Stop, Start, and Fast Stop his/her VPS when an emergency occurs. Using Virtuozzo also helps a user to get better information of his/her VPS such as Change password, File Manager, Resources, System Services, System Processes, Firewall, SSH Connection, Status Changes, QoS Alerts, Action Log, Traffic Log etc.
What is a Dedicated IP?
A Dedicated IP is an IP address dedicated exclusively to a single website or hosting account.
Advantages of a dedicated IP address on your hosting account:
- You can access your website via its IP address.
- Access your accounts by FTP or the Web when the domain name is otherwise inaccessible, such as during domain name propagation periods.
- Ensure faster response during periods of high traffic load.
- Set up SSL protection on your website.
